Patrick K. Moss is a native of Spartanburg, South Carolina and has over 40 years of experience as a Professional Trumpeter.  As a child, Patrick had a profound passion for playing various instruments, such as piano, drums, and was later introduced to the trumpet.  Patrick began his career as a jazz musician while studying as a Music Education major at Johnson C. Smith University, Charlotte, NC in 1976.   

Patrick’s 40 year career has included performing with and for a wide variety of notables,  such as Wycliffe Gordon, a Jazz Trombonist, Arranger, Composer, Band Leader, and Music Educator of the Wynton Marsalis Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra; The legendary Fred Wesley of the James Brown Band, an American Trombonist;  Betty Wright, a Soul and R&B singer, songwriter and background vocalist; S.O.S Band (Sounds of Success), an R&B and Electro-Funk Group; Grammy Nominated Jazz Vocalist, Carla Cook; The Impressions; Martha High; and he is also a member of The Stateside Big Band ‘A Sign of the Times of the Carolinas’, which is directed by Tyrone Jefferson, the former Music Director for the late “God Father of Soul”, James Brown

In 1980, Patrick was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army.  While serving in the U.S. Army, Patrick entered into the music scene in Europe during the mid-eighties where he performed/toured from Berlin to Bremerhaven, W. Germany.  In addition, Patrick also served as a trumpet player in the U.S Army Reserve Band, and after 21 years of service, and retired as a Captain in 2003.  

In 2008, Patrick relocated to St. Croix, Virgin Islands and formed his own band, “The Pat Moss Quintet (PMQ)” and performed throughout the Caribbean Islands. 

In 2017, Patrick and his wife, Iris Moss opened the Premiere Jazz Club in Spartanburg, South Carolina known as “The Music Stand at Blues Boulevard”. Moss Entertainment Group is an affiliate of The Music Stand at Blues Boulevard and is also a Veteran Owned business.

In addition to Patrick’s professional music career, he has other education, community, and career affiliations that has afforded him the opportunity to work in different capacities, such as being a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.
